The Student.

May 21, 2010 by Scott Sturges | 1 Comment »

This past week, we were ordered to create a masterpiece movie poster for a hypothetical movie called “The Student.” Although the stated goal was to inspire creativity into our projects, I think Twitchell’s real goal was to get free graphic design for his upcoming blockbuster of the same name.

Lens Repair

Canon 28-135mm

Many months ago, when I first received my lens with my replacement camera, my lens started “sticking” while zooming past 35mm. I never really thought about it until I used a friends lens and noticed the difference. Because it was under warranty, I decided to send it in to Canon to see what they had to say about it.

I must say, I was very impressed with Canon’s customer service. The first thing that I did was call their 800 number. Expecting a long phone tree, I was happy to get a human after only 2 automated questions. The CS rep was very helpful, and emailed me the repair form.

I sent off my lens, and a week later was quite happy to get an email from them stating that they would repair it for no charge. When they fixed it, they even FedEx’d it back to me by 2-Day air. Although this really isn’t a project that I’m posting here, I am just happy to have my lens back, and happy that Canon’s customer service is so great.

Senior Portraits: Gabby & Keaton

May 9, 2010 by Scott Sturges | 1 Comment »

The past few weeks, I have been working on some senior portraits for some people. First off, I did some portraits for a friend around September, however, he came back to me and wanted some more prints, so I worked with him and his mom to get those ordered and processed adequately. It ended up taking quite a bit of time, getting all of the images processed to the right size, etc.

I also had another student come to me for senior portraits. Gabby wanted some new ones, because her other studio was too expensive to get graduation announcement photos, so she wanted different ones for those. So she had me take some for her. We went to Hayden Lake and got some great ones down by the water. We decided that since so many people go downtown for portraits, that we would try some other areas.

Promotional Bulletin Board – Creating It

May 6, 2010 by Scott Sturges | 0 Comment »

Last year, I was conned by Mike Mattson into helping present a speech regarding a Promotional Bulletin Board at SkillsUSA State. Our team happened to get second place. We were slightly disappointed that we were unable to go to Nationals. But when we got back to school we had an email telling us that first had dropped out and we were being allowed to go to Nationals in their place to represent Idaho. We didn’t so so well, but I decided that the next year, we would do great… so this year, my brother, Stephen Sturges, and I were on a team to design a new one, and with the knowledge of last year, we created a masterpiece bulletin board and wrote a great speech that gave us First place at state, and qualified us to go to Nationals in Kansas City, Missouri.

CSI: Twin Falls

CSI: Twin Falls - The College

During the awards ceremony at SkillsUSA State, one person from the Twin Falls satellite campus of the College of Southern Idaho won first place. Do you know what it said on the slideshow in huge letters?

None other than CSI: Twin Falls. Although we knew that they obviously didn’t mean this, it still was funny to see.

Attn Twitchell: This is not a project, please do not grade me for this, thank you.
